Chelsea have been alerted amid speculation that Dmitri Payet’s contract talks with West Ham United is being stalled due to a disagreement, The Sun reports.

The 28-year-old’s representatives is said to be demanding an increase on his current £65,000-a-week deal to £125,000-a-week.

Payet only completed a move from Marseille during the summer, signing a five-year deal, but looks to have angered the Hammers board by wanting a pay rise so quickly.

“It’s unheard of for a player’s agent to ask for a pay rise after only six months at a club," a club insider stated.

“The player’s caught in the middle of it. The club aren’t happy. But whatever happens, Payet will not be sold.”

His performances this season have also caught the eye of Arsenal and Manchester United, but manager Slaven Bilic has come out to confirm his desire to keep hold of his star midfielder.

"The club is moving, with the new stadium and everything, and the most important move is to keep your best players," Bilic said.

"Dimitri Payet is our best player. And of course I would love to have him happy, long-term, at the club.

"He only signed a few months ago, but he has made a huge impact and while he has a long contract he is in a good position. We all want to keep him for a long, long time."

Should the Hammers agree to the terms of his new deal, Payet will be the highest paid player in the squad, overtaking Andy Carroll.

The France international has already featured 22 times in all competitions this term, so far managing to score six goals while providing another five assists.
