Villarreal centre back Mateo Musacchio will only be sold if a potential suitor is willing to meet the €50million buy-out-clause, according to Sky Sports.
The 23-year-old has emerged as one of the most exciting young centre backs in Europe, after a string of superb performances in La Liga.
Manchester City and Chelsea are amongst those to be linked with the Argentine international, whilst Napoli and Barcelona are also interested parties.
However, the young defender has a long term deal with Villarreal who are pushing for the top four this season.
And club president Fernando Roig, says the club have no desire to sell, and would only consider doing so if the massive asking price was met.
“Musacchio has a contract until 2018, therefore he will be here for four more years,” said Roig.
“If someone wants to come and pay what he is worth, then we will talk.
“For the player to leave, it depends on three parties, not just one or two – he has a contract.
“If he is wanted, then for Villarreal it is fine, but only if the money is paid up front.”
Manchester City remain in the market for a new centre back, with Manuel Pellegrini still unconvinced by Joleon Lescott and summer signing Martin Demechilis.
Meanwhile Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho remains in the market for a potential replacement for David Luiz, who continues to be linked with Barcelona.
