Turkish club Trabzonspor claimed to have agreed a £7million deal to sign Demba Ba from Chelsea, only for Jose Mourinho to block the transfer, according to the Metro.
The Turkish side are keen to sign the Senegal international, who has been behind Samuel Eto’o and Fernando Torres in the Chelsea pecking order this season.
But despite a fee being agreed, the clubs president says Mourinho pulled the plug on the deal, following an injury to Fernando Torres.
‘We had agreed terms with Demba Ba,’ said Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu.
‘However, following Fernando Torres’ injury, Mourinho made it clear that they didn’t want to let go of Ba just yet.
‘Despite this we are still interested in Ba.’
The Blues are waiting the results of a scan on Torres’ knee, but it is thought the Spaniard could be out of action for as long as six weeks.
Trabzonspor remain in contact with Chelsea, but Ba is now expected to stay at Stamford Bridge until the summer.
Ba has also been linked with former Premier League clubs West Ham and Newcastle this month.
