The West London club smashed Tottenham at Stamford Bridge yesterday to move seven points cleat at the top of the table and nine clear of City who have three games in hand due to cup commitments.
Mourinho has played down title talk all season long and despite sitting pretty at the top of the table, is continuing his masquerade.
The Blues boss knows that if City win their remaining 12 games they will be champions, and so in his mind that makes them favourites despite the bookies making Chelsea clear leaders in the market.
“I would like to be in their position, because if they win the matches they are top of the league,” Mourinho said.
“If we win the next nine matches, we may not be champions.
“If Manchester City win the 12 matches they have, they are champions. They have their destiny in their hands and we don’t have ours.
“I would prefer to have my destiny in my hands. It doesn’t depend on us. It depends on them.”
