Chelsea are targeting Hoffenheim striker Roberto Firmino to boost their attacking options in the summer, Express reports.
Jose Mourinho looks to have landed Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa with a £32m offer, but he believes the Blues still require more fire-power up front.
Reports from Germany suggest Mourinho does not see Firmino as an alternative to Costa, but instead an essential piece in overhauling the Chelsea squad for next season.
Although the top Brazilian goalscorer – 22 goals in all competitions – in Europe this year, the 22-year-old has not been included in his national team for the World Cup.
However the statistics speak for itself and Mourinho believes that the attacker can be lured to Stamford Bridge with a £15m offer.
Chelsea have stiff competition from other top clubs in Europe, with Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona all having been previously linked with the Hoffenheim star.
The player, though, in the past insisted he was happy at Hoffenheim.
In March he said: “I am really excited about being at Hoffenheim 1899.
“I really like the aims the club is aspiring to. We are playing a thrilling way and the team spirit among the squad is just great.”
