The Blues skipper has found his best form again under Jose Mourinho this season and was tipped to save England this summer with a heroic recall.
That won’t be happening though, with club mate Gary Cahill now the main man at the back for Roy Hodgson’s side.
Terry has admitted that he had his ups and downs with England, with off the field issues taking centre stage, and that he will not be on the plan to Brazil in May.
“My days are gone and now it’s for players like Gary [Cahill] to push on for the country. He’s the man for England going forward,” he said.
“A lot went on with myself and England, I loved playing for my country and being captain twice but things have changed and moved on and I can hopefully keep us [Chelsea] at the top of the league.”
