Chelsea fans would not have been encouraged by the sight of David Luiz limping in the closing stages of Sunday's 1-1 draw with Burnley. The defender has reportedly been playing through pain in his knee since early December after jarring it against Manchester City when Sergio Aguero lunged in.The 29-year-old sparked concern on social media app Snapchat when he uploaded a picture of himself in a hospital gown with a picture of a needle and the caption: "Let's do it."[ad_pod id='now-tv' align='centre']

However, according to The Telegraph, Chelsea have insisted that the issue is not serious and that treatment on his knee after Sunday's game was simply to help manage the problem.

Having said that, manager Antonio Conte is likely to rest Luiz for the upcoming FA Cup fifth-round match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Luiz has been an important figure in the team since returning to Stamford Bridge from Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

The Brazilian has been an integral part of a three-man back line alongside Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicueta, helping the Blues hit the best defensive record in the Premier League so far, conceding 18 goals and keeping 13 clean sheets.
