Italian side Napoli have joined the race to sign Porto forward Jackson Martinez this summer, according to Sky Sports.

The Colombian international has been in fine form once again this season, taking his Porto tally to 54 goals in 78 games; however former Champions League winners are unlikely to win the Portuguese league this season with rivals Benfica clear at the top.

Chelsea are very keen on the striker and Jose Mourinho’s close links with Porto and Portuguese football could come in handy when summer bidding begins.

Martinez will be at the World Cup this summer, and so will want his future sorted before that, but big spending Napoli will be tough competition for Chelsea.

The Italians president Riccardo Bigon has confirmed his interest in the striker, as well as more Porto stars.

“A lot was said about Jackson Martinez during the summer but with the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain, things went very well for us,” Bigon said.

“However, I don’t hide that we are interested in him as well as other FC Porto players.”
