Chelsea have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Atletico Madrid star Koke, Sky Sports reports.
The Blues are now battling it out with the Red Devils to lure the Spanish star to the Premier League, with Barcelona also keen on the talented midfielder.
Barca see Koke as the perfect replacement for Cesc Fabregas, who is likely to depart in the upcoming transfer window.
But Chelsea have also taken steps to sign Koke this summer as manager Jose Mourinho looks to add another Atletico player to join Diego Costa at Stamford Bridge.
Meanwhile Manchester United have already submitted a massive £48million bid, but without Champions League football at Old Trafford next season, a move looks unlikely.
Koke played a pivotal as his side toppled La-Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona to win Atletico’s first league title since 1996.
Diego Simeone’s men also reached the UEFA Champions League final, but lost out in extra time to city rivals Real Madrid.
22-year-old Koke, however, has only recently extended his Atletico contract to 2018 back in January, and has told Spanish newspaper MarcaI that he is happy in Madrid despite interest from Barcelona.
“I still haven’t had time to read what has come out,” he said. I am on holiday and I plan to disconnect.
“Barcelona is one of the best teams in the world and that they are interested in you means that you must be doing something right. That is very nice for a footballer.
“In any case, I only think about keeping working. I want to stay here and everyone knows it. I see myself at Atletico next season.”
