Chelsea have made an enquiry for Paris Saint-Germain star Ezequiel Lavezzi during talks over David Luiz’s transfer, Telegraph reports.
Luiz will be leaving the Blues for PSG after the two clubs the two clubs agreed on a £50m fee, making him the world’s most expensive player.
Now Chelsea are interested in bringing over Lavezzi, but face an uphill battle with the Argentine forward still having two years remaining on his current contract.
Paris Saint-Germain however could use Lavezzi as part of an exchange deal to sign Eden Hazard, who manager Laurent Blanc has admitted to be his number of transfer target this summer.
The Stamford Bridge coaches have been impressed by Lavezzi over the recent years, as the former Napoli man scored twice against the Blues and like Hazard, can play on both wings and attack centrally.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has publically criticized his team’s lack of firepower up front, and wants Lavezzi to join Diego Costa in his new look attack next season.
Mourinho is also looking to bring back Thibault Courtois from Atletico Madrid, but the Belgium goalkeeper is unwilling to play second fiddle to Petr Cech.
