Chelsea are offering Fernando Torres to AS Roma in a player-swap deal in their chase for Italy striker Mattia Destro, Mirror reports.
Destro has recently been linked with a host of top European clubs, but the Blues believe they can persuade Roma to sell the attacker if Torres was made available on loan in their offer.
The Spaniard only managed to score 20 league goals during his two-and-a-half years at Stamford Bridge, and it seems Jose Mourinho has had enough with the misfiring hitman.
Destro, meanwhile, grabbed 13 goals in the Serie A last season, despite only making 20 appearances with six coming from the bench.
As the transfer window comes near its close, Chelsea are keen to sign the striker before the 1st of September, with Roma valuing Destro at around £20million.
If the Blues were to add Torres into the deal, the final agreement will be whether Roma can pay the former Liverpool forward his high £180,000-a-week wages.
With Diego Costa and club legend Didier Drogba ahead of him in the pecking order, this could be the last chance for Torres to leave the club for regular playing time.
