Chelsea are hoping they can use Demba Ba as a makeweight in deal to lure Inter Milan star Fredy Gaurin to Stamford Bridge, according to talkSPORT.

The Blues have already started negotiating over a possible deal for the Colombian midfielder, and hope the offer of Ba will give them the edge over rival clubs who are also interested.

The two clubs are yet to agree on a fee, with Inter refusing to lower their asking price of £16.5million for the former Porto man.

The Italian giants are looking to raise money for their own January recruitment drive, and are hoping to get as much money as possible for one of their prized assets.

Ba has only managed three Premier League goals since arriving from Newcastle last January, and is currently third choice striker behind Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto’o.

Jose Mourinho sees the Senegal star as surplus to requirements, and is ready to offer him plus cash to his former club in the hope of landing Gaurin.

But reports in Italy claim, that despite Inter’s need for new attacking talent, manager Walter Mazzarri is unsure as to whether Ba would fit into his teams style of play.
