Chelsea are looking to add another big name player to their squad by luring Bayern Munich star Toni Kroos, Daily Star reports.
Real Madrid and Manchester United were monitoring the German midfielder, but the Blues hope that offering a bumper deal will convince Kroos to move to Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old rejected Bayern’s contract offer, meaning he only has one year remaining with the Bundesliga champions.
Bayern have made it quite clear there will be no additional negotiations with the terms, and are looking to sell Kroos this summer.
Reports suggested that Real Madrid offered Kroos a £4m-a-year deal, but Chelsea have joined the race by signalling an offer of £7m-a-year.
The Blues recently completed the £27m deal for Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas, and with the transfer for Diego Costa imminent, could make Kroos their third marquee signing this summer.
Kroos was initially a target for newly appointed Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, but dropped out of the chase to pursue several Dutch starlets.
A transfer fee of £20m has been mooted to be Bayern’s asking price for Toni Kroos.
