Chelsea looks set to join Manchester United in the race to trigger Joao Miranda’s £24 million release clause from Atletico Madrid, Daily Star reports.
Jose Mourinho is considering a huge Atletico swoop as they are also targeting Filipe Luis and Tiago after recently confirming the signing of Diego Costa from the Spanish side.
Their on loan-keeper, Thibaut Courtios, whose been a strong presence in their title winning campaign, is also ready to return to Stamford Bridge and compete for a first team place against Petr Cech.
Louis van Gaal is also believed to be chasing the likes of Miranda in order to reinforce his central defensive positions after losing Nemanja Vidic to Inter Milan and Rio Ferdinand leaving after playing out his contract.
However, the 29-year-old centre-back is said to be leaning towards a potential move to join the Blues rather than linking up with van Gaal at Old Trafford.
