Chelsea are set to complete the transfer of Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid by the end of this week, Telegraph reports.
Only a medical stands in the way of the Blues officially announcing their first summer signing, which has been delayed due to the £32million man’s hamstring injury.
Costa has now returned to training with the Spanish national side ahead of the World Cup, and Chelsea are eager to complete the medical as soon as possible.
The deal was agreed in principal several weeks ago and Chelsea may finally complete the transfer by the end of the week prior to the World Cup.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will be thrilled at the capture, which will allow him to focus on his other transfer targets including Koke, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Filipe Luis, and former Arsenal man Cesc Fabregas.
Frank Lampard’s departure has opened the door for Mourinho to find a replacement, with Cesc Fabregas high on the list to become the Englishman’s successor.
It is reported that the Blues have made a £30million bid for the Spanish star, which Barcelona have accepted.
