Chelsea are set to complete the £32million Diego Costa signing from Atletico Madrid and are looking to offload Romelu Lukaku to Spain, Mirror reports.
Atletico will need a striker to replace the departing Costa and have targeted Chelsea’s Lukaku as an ideal replacement.
The La Liga champions want to bring the Belgian over on a loan deal, but face some competition with fellow Spanish side Valencia willing to pay £18million for his services.
It seems there is no way Lukaku will be part of Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho’s plans next season, with the move to Spain now a likely scenario.
The Blues are also looking at Atletico’s full-back Filipe Luis, and will use Lukaku to sweeten a potential deal for the Brazilian.
Lukaku is being chased by many of Europe’s top clubs after having two very successful loan seasons in the Premier League with West Bromwich Albion and Everton.
The 21-year-old scored 32 goals in those two campaigns but Mourinho is still unconvinced by the former Anderlecht man’s attitude.
Costa completed his medical during Spain’s training sessions in the USA and is expected to be formally announced as a Chelsea player in the coming days.
