Newcastle were on the end of a seething attack by Montpellier coach Rolland Courbis over their pursuit of midfield star Remy Cabella, as reported by the Evening Chronicle.

The Toon have approached the French club over the availability of Cabella and the players’ father has hinted that a move to England is all but sealed.

However Courbis doesn’t want his star man to join the Magpies and has even gone as far as to say that he wouldn’t want to spend a week in Newcastle, let along live there.

The angry boss has clearly been upset at Alan Pardew’s attempts to sign yet another Frenchman and he believes the former French under-21 international can do a lot better than Newcastle.

Cabella looks set to leave Montpellier no matter what this month but Courbis will do his best to make sure Newcastle is not the destination.

“They are not a big club,” Courbis claimed.

“And I hope another club tries to buy him.

“As a player I would not even want to spend a week there (Newcastle).”
