Julian Speroni is close to signing a new contract at Crystal Palace, according to SkySports.

The Argentine goalkeeper was named as Palace’s Player of the Year last term as he played a huge role in the club’s 11th place finish in their first season back in the top-flight.

But with his current deal expiring at the end of the month, it was expected that he would bring an end to his 10 year stay at Selhurst Park and sign for one of a number of Premier League outfits interested in his signature.

But the 35-year-old now looks set to stay at the club after agreeing a one-year deal at the club, which will be a huge boos to manager Tony Pulis who will be hoping to ensure his Eagles side can avoid a bout of a ‘Second Season Syndrome’ next term.
