Osvaldo has been suspended by the club for two weeks after a training ground altercation with Jose Fonte where it is believed the Italian punched and head-butted his team mate with the other players looking on.
Fonte posted a picture on Instagram of him with a sore looking black eye before the south coast sides’ victory over Yeovil in the FA Cup yesterday.
Osvaldo was signed for in excess of £12million in the summer but has failed to set St Mary’s alight on the pitch and Davis believes that his actions last week make it impossible for him to now be accepted back in the dressing room.
“Obviously what has happened has happened. As a team, as a squad, as a club, we are looking forward and we are very much together,” Davis said.
“Umm, well, we are a friendly bunch. We come and talk to you guys (the media) whenever you ask us.
“We’ve said for a long time that we have always had a good team spirit and a good changing room. That can’t change and if anyone doesn’t want to be involved in that then they are not welcome.”
