Dutch legend Patrick Kluivert, the former Holland assistance manager believes Daley Blind will become a central figure at Manchester United after completing his £13.5million switch, Talksport reports.

The 24-year-old is considered a very versatile player, having the ability to play as a centre-back, a left wing back, or either a defensive or central midfielder.

Kluivert, who worked with Blind during their time in the national set-up tips him to be the missing link Louis van Gaal was searching for.

“Daley Blind is a very intelligent player, he reads the game very well,” he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show. “You saw during the World Cup, he played all of the games.

“He’s the key man between the defence, midfield and strikers. He puts pace on the game.”

The former Barcelona and Ajax striker also added that Van Gaal now has the team capable of pushing forward and once he picks up his first win, things will be looking up.

“He will manage to get a good balance in the team,” he added. “With such great players in the squad, everyone’s got to under-estimate themselves for the team. That’s the most important thing.

“Louis has got everything sorted out. All he needs is a win and then everything will be OK.”
