Newcastle United are set to sign Holland defender Daryl Janmaat, who is expected to undergo his medical today, Sky Sports reports.
Dary Janmaat was one of Holland’s stars in his country’s march into the World Cup semi-final, only losing out to Argentina in a penalty shoot-out.
And the Magpies’ purchase of Janmaat will also allow the move for Mathieu Debuchy to Arsenal, with the Feryenoord defender a like-for-like replacement.
Arsenal are desperately looking forward in securing the deal for the France international after the £32million signing of Barcelona and Chile star Alexis Sanchez.
The Gunners have had to wait for Newcastle to find a replacement, but the hold-up looks like it will be over soon.
The Toon Army and Feryenoord have agreed on a fee, with the player arriving in Tyneside sometime today.
After already securing Remy Cabella from Montpellier and Siem de Jong from Ajax, Magpies boss Alan Pardew is hoping to secure a few acquisitions before his team depart to New Zealand for a pre-season tour.
However Cabella and Janmaat will not be joining the squad due to their participation in the World Cup.
