Roy Hodgson declared England won't be affected by a rise in expectation ahead of their make-or-break final Group D game against Ukraine at the Donbass Arena in Donetsk.

The Three Lions have four points from their opening two games and require a draw against the Euro 2012 co-hosts to secure passage to the last eight and Hodgson is content with the level of belief in his squad.

Despite being in the job for just six-weeks the 64-year-old has turned England around and feels they now need to strike while the iron is hot if they are progress in the competition but knows a lot can happen over the course of one game.

"You try and play football, and international football, to try and get carried away.Dreaming is what football is about," he said

"I think we've got to be happy that expectations have risen and people are maybe thinking we can go a bit further than when we started the competition.

"That doesn't mean to say we can guarantee success or fulfil those expectations. It is nice to know after the first couple of games there is a bit more belief in the team and the team has belief in itself.

"But we are talking about individual matches and cup finals. A lot of things can happen in 90 minutes that you as a football team cannot control.

"We've already seem some very good teams go out of this competition but at least we feel now we've given ourselves a chance."

Ukraine still have an outside chance of reaching the quarter finals but need to beat England if they are to stand any chance with coach Oleg Blokhin admitting that Tuesday evening's opponents are the favourites to go through.

However Blohkin says his players are relaxed ahead of the game and believes that could play into their hands but need to show the same fight that secured the win over Sweden in their opening fixture.

"They are one of the favourites, so the pressure is on them," he said.

"We have a more relaxed approach, we have nothing to lose, even if we don't get a great result, if we show fight on the pitch till last minute that will be no disgrace," he said.

Key Players

Another captains performance from the 32-year-old alongside Scott Parker in midfield proved to the benchmark for England's late win over Sweden on Friday. Gerrard was once again the provider for his sides first goal and will be expected to inspire the Three Lions to victory over Ukraine that will secure a place in the last eight.

Andriy Yarmolenko

In the absence of captain Andriy Shevchenko the goal scoring burden will be passed on to 22-year-old Yarmolenko who's enjoyed a fine tournament on the left of Ukraine's attack. The Dynamo Kiev midfielder will be up against Glen Johnson and will be confident of giving the Liverpool right back another difficult evening.
