Everton manager Roberto Martinez has dismissed any speculation that league leaders Liverpool are preparing to make a £38m offer for Ross Barkley.
The young Everton midfielder has been making the headlines, being link with a number of Premier League clubs due to his recent fine form.
Brendan Rodgers is one of the interested parties hoping to bring the 20 year old to Liverpool, but a bid seems quite unlikely as Everton are hopeful on keeping the services of their star midfielder.
Upon asking questions about Barkley’s future, the Everton boss told Sky Sports: “Well according to speculation, we turned down £50m from Man Utd so we certainly wouldn’t accept £38m from Liverpool.”
Apart from Barkley, Everton’s John Stone is also being linked with a transfer as media speculation states that a number of clubs are currently monitoring the form of 19 year old defender
“I’ve not heard that but I’m not surprised and it’s a compliment to him and Everton,” Martinez added.
“It’s quite enjoyable to speak about speculation, I think it shows how well our players are doing and those are the type of football compliments that we want coming our way.”
Everton face Crystal Palace in tonight’s Premier League midweek fixture in their hopes of leapfrogging Arsenal into fourth.
