Everton are eyeing up a move for FC Copenhagen left back Bryan Oviedo as they could face losing Leighton Baines to Manchester United, reports the Daily Mirror.

Sir Alex Ferguson has been a long time admirer of the Toffees full back, and this could be the summer that he chooses to make a swoop for the ever present 27 year old.

Bizarrely however, the United boss is also looking at a move for 22 year old Costa Rican Oviedo in the event that his sides move for Baines does not prove successful.

Oviedo has impressed in Denmark since moving from South America in 2010, and having been valued at £3 million, could well be a fantastic bargain should he take the Premier League by storm next season.

David Moyes has already lost star man Tim Cahill this summer, so the loss of Baines as well would need to be met with some shrewd activity before the new season starts in two weeks time.

Scouts from the Merseyside club were watching their Costa Rican target closely at the end of last season, before Moyes went to see him in action himself, only for Sir Alex Ferguson to be keeping tabs on exactly the same player.
