Everton midfield maestro Leon Osman has heaped praise on boss David Moyes whose contract runs out at the end of the season.

Osman celebrated his 11th anniversary in the Everton first team this week and he has seen Moyes improve the club right from the beginning including his spectacular goal yesterday.

Moyes’ contract runs out at the end of this season and the Scot is yet to indicate whether he will be remaining at Goodison Park or come May.

The Toffees are still in with a chance of Europa League qualification this season but an embarrassing FA Cup quarter final defeat coupled with a poor run in 2013 has seen doubt rise even further over Moyes’ contract.

Chelsea are on the hunt for a new manager in the summer and Moyes may be keen to take the next step up the managerial ladder after serving Everton so well.

Osman has thanked his manager for what he has done for the club and he is hopeful that he will sign a new deal with the Eveton.

“In the 10, 11 years he has been here, he has taken us to fighting from relegation every season to the final stages of cup competitions and to the top end of the table, so his record speaks for itself,” Osman told the Express.

“[The best thing is] the manner in which he has done it, we will see what happens at the end of the season and hopefully he stays.

“He gave me the chance and my debut and I am still in the team so I am thankful for that.”
