Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has urged Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to quit Spain and re-join United, as reported by ESPN.

Ronaldo joined Real Madrid from the Red Devils four seasons ago for a record £80million and hasn’t looked back since, scoring a stunning 170 goals in 169 games.

The Portuguese winger will be back at Old Trafford for the Champions League knock out stages in the new year but Evra believes his stay should be permanent.

Various stories of unrest have filtered out of the Spanish capital this season from both Ronaldo and his manager Jose Mourinho, who is another man thought to be in with a chance of a permanent move to Old Trafford.

French left back Evra has revealed that he is always in contact with his former team mate and that if he won the Ballon d’Or then he could return to his spiritual home.

"I have been in touch with him many times," Evra told MUTV.

"He still loves Manchester United  and misses Manchester United.

"He has done some incredible things for Real Madrid, he broke all the records, but they didn't show him the respect he deserves.

"When Ronny was here, he got the love from all the players, the manager and the fans.

"He is a winner.

“But he likes people to like him. He misses Manchester United because it was his house.

"I always say I hope he will come back because this is his home.

"If he wants to win the Golden Ball (Ballon d'Or) he has to come back to Manchester United."
