The Palace winger is in high demand following his excellent season so for the Eagles, with Arsenal openly declaring their interest in the 20 year-old last week much to the annoyance of manager Ian Holloway.
Zaha’s performances this season has already seen him get an England call-up to Roy Hodgson recent squad, however Crystal Palace have said countless times that they would be hesitant in selling Zaha in January, believing that it would damage their push for promotion to the Premier League.
Steve Parish said last month that while he has already received a couple opportunist bids for Zaha this season, the Palace chairman doesn’t believe it makes sense to break this current side up for this year at least:
“We’ve had a couple [of approaches for Zaha],” he told talkSPORT.
“None that you would really take seriously.
“They were a couple of opportunistic bids from people who might not have read the papers and know that we’re out of administration.
“What’s important for us is that we keep this team together, at least this season.
“We’re anxious to keep hold of him. He’s on a five-year deal. We need to keep him happy. I completely understand that. We’ll make sure he stays in January and we’ll have another look at it in the summer.”
By United allowing Zaha to remain at Selhurst Park gives Crystal Palace a win-win situation in much needed January funds to consolidate their promotion push, as well as retaining the services of the talented winger in their quest for the Premier League.
