Philippe Senderos is believed to have completed a medical in Switzerland in order to confirm his return to the Premier League with Aston Villa preparing to snap him up on a free transfer, SkySports reports.
The former Arsenal centre-back returned from his half season loan at Valencia, where he only made eight appearances, and was later released by parent club Fulham at the end of the previous campaign.
He spent four years with the Cottagers, but has played for a majority of bigger clubs before, being the Gunners, AC Milan, and Everton.
Villa hopes to bring him into the club to aid their struggling defence which saw them concede 61 goals, more than any team except the three that were relegated.
Paul Lambert hopes to finalize the move very soon so that Senderos can turn to his international duties with the Swiss national squad, who will be on their way to Brazil for the World Cup next week.
