Aston Villa forward Darren Bent has admitted that he will not be joining Fulham permanently after an unsuccessful loan spell this season, as reported by Sky Sports.

The former Tottenham and Sunderland forward scored just three league goals for the Cottagers this season as the West London club slipped into the Championship.

New boss Felix Magath even promoted a few youth players ahead of Bent, making his summer decision for him.

Bent does not see eye to eye with current Villa boss Paul Lambert and so it may well be a case of finding a new club as soon as possible to prepare himself for next season to get his career back on track.

“I’ve enjoyed my time down here but obviously it hasn’t gone well. I haven’t played as much football as I would have liked,” he told the Express and Star.

“When I first came here I hoped it was going to be a case of playing fairly regularly, but it just wasn’t meant to be.”

Paul Lambert’s own future is in doubt and that will have to be resolved before Bent decides on his next move.
