Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker has blasted Wayne Rooney for his recent performances, asking manager Louis van Gaal to drop the Englishman, Express reports.
With the new arrival of Radamel Falcao to United, Parker claims Rooney should make way in order to accommodate the Colombian striker.
The ex United ace believes that Rooney isn’t on the same level with the likes of Sergio Aguero and Diego Costa, and should have been sold during the summer transfer window.
In an interview with Eurosport, Parker said: “As for Wayne Rooney, he’s been awful.
“There he was at Burnley this weekend, supposedly captaining the team – but I saw a player interested only in himself, doing nothing to try and lift his game or inspire his team-mates.
“The only thing in any way remarkable about his performance is that he collects £300,000 a week to play that badly.
“Once Van Persie is fully-fit again, Rooney must be the person to be dropped from United’s new attacking line-up: for me, it’ll be RVP and Falcao every time.”
Parker played 102 league games for Man United from 1991-1996, scoring two goals.
