Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale has claimed that his colossal price tag has not played on his mind since moving to Spain, as reported by Sky Sports.
The former Spurs star man is the world’s most expensive player after his £100million move from White Hart Lane last summer.
After arriving unfit after having little or no pre-season with Tottenham, it took Bale a while to settle in at the Madrid but he has certainly lived up to the hype since then.
Bale has admitted that it would be easy for him to worry about the money spent on him every time he walks onto the pitch but he claims that would do him no favours at all.
“It felt like a lifetime, the negotiations went on and on. It wasn’t a normal transfer; it was the biggest in the world,” Bale told The Sun.
“Those things take time, so I had to be patient. But it worked out for the best.
“For me, the price isn’t important. You think about it but it’s not important. The most important thing is to go out on the pitch and do what I do best.
“I just wanted to focus on football. It was a bit difficult at the start, not having a pre-season, but given time and being able to get my fitness up, I felt no pressure.”
