Liverpool.

The Dutchman has found his job with the Cottagers under threat of late after a disappointing start to the season.

A heavy defeat at the hands of Manchester United last weekend has left Fulham just two points clear of the relegation zone.

Their position could potential worsen after a tough trip to high-flying Liverpool, which has led to rumours that it could be Jol’s last game in charge.

But, Bent – who arrived at the club over the summer in a loan deal from Aston Villa – has defended his manager, who he believes is doing a good job:

“We see how passionate Martin is,” he is quoted by the Daily Mail.

“We probably see a side to him that others don’t. They might ask, “What does he actually do?” But he works hard and fires everyone up and he’s a great motivator.

“If he puts a session on you know full well he’s going to be right in there, pointing the finger and making sure everyone’s pulling their weight. He doesn’t sit back.

“We like Martin Jol and want him to stay. We like playing for him. We just need that consistency. He was a massive part of me joining Fulham. It was just important to be back around first-team football because it’s no secret that when I went back for pre-season (at Villa) I was training with the kids.”

Bent has featured regularly for Fulham so far, and has shown signs of striking up a solid relationship with Dimitar Berbatov.
