Galatasary are preparing to pip Liverpool and Arsenal to the signature of Hamburg starlet Hakan Calhanoglu in January, according to talkSPORT.

The Bundesliga side remain adamant they will not be selling the Turkish starlet this winter, but Galatasaray remain confident of persuading the youngster to switch to his homeland.

The midfielder’s agent revealed last week that his client has been attracting interest from around Europe after some eye catching displays in the Bundesliga.

Arsenal are believed to have been monitoring his progress closely and are even thought to be preparing a January offer, whilst Liverpool have also been linked with a move.

But it now appears the Premier League pace-setters could lose out to Galatasary, as the Turkish giants have reportedly already sounded out the player over the prospect of a January move.

“Tugay Kerimoglu, Galatarasaray’s assistant coach, phoned me and told me that they want to sign me as soon as this winter,” Calhanoglu is quoted as saying to Eurosport France.

The 19-year-old has made 13 Bundesliga appearances this season, and has scored four goals.
