Sami Khedira was left out of the Real Madrid squad that won the UEFA Super Cup Tuesday night, hinting at a possible move to either Arsenal or Chelsea, Express reports.
Madrid beat Sevilla 2-0 at Cardiff but Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti decided to not even name Khedira on the bench, despite the German star being available.
And according to Spanish newspaper Marca, Ancelotti’s snub over Khedira signals that the Italian chief is willing to offload the 27-year-old, seeing him surplus to requirements.
The arrivals of James Rodriguez and compatriot Toni Kroos both also competing for a central midfieldberth has pushed Khedira down the pecking order, and he is expected to leave the Santiago Bernabeu before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for the former Stuttgart midfielder all summer, but talks stalled due to Khedira’s wage demands not meeting with the contract offered by the Gunners.
However it is believed that Khedira prefers a move to London rivals Chelsea, with the chance of reuniting with former boss Jose Mourinho possibly too good to turn down.
