Roy Hodgson has told England fans to put money on his team ahead of the World Cup draw this afternoon, reports the Daily Mail.

The England manager appears to be in confident mood ahead of the summers tournament, and also revealed he will be using Olympic great Lord Coe to provide a motivational talk for his players.

England currently stand at 25-1 to win the World Cup next summer, with Spain, Germany, Argentina and hosts Brazil amongst the favourites.

Asked whether it would be worth putting a bet on the host nation, Hodgson replied:

‘No — I’d put it on England. I’d have a chance of losing it on Brazil, so why not put it on the team I want to win it.

‘We all know the result everybody wants and that’s to repeat the triumph of 1966. We all know that’s not going to be easy, but it’s great to be there trying to do it.’

Hodgson also explained the thinking behind Lord Coe providing a motivational speech for his players ahead of the tournament.

Hodgson said: ‘It would be fantastic in our next get-together, or before we leave for Brazil or maybe Miami, if we could get Seb in to talk with the players about the Olympic experience and now the athletes felt. He would be perfect.

‘He had to work under that pressure. When he was the best 1500-metre runner in the world, when he took part in Olympic Games or World Championships, he was expected to win, like  Jessica Ennis was in London.

‘That’s an enormous pressure, even when you’re good enough to do it. He gave me his mobile and told me to contact him directly rather than go through his office. The only issue is that he has a lot on his plate. He’s not sitting around and waiting for us to ask him to pop up to St George’s Park. I’m sure it would be an inspiration.’
