Arsenal look to have been boosted in their chase for another striker after Jackson Martinez missed FC Porto’s pre-season training , Express reports.

The 27-year-old striker is currently valued at £35 million and is seen as a top goal scorer after netting 46 goals in 60 matches for Porto.

Martinez didn’t return to his club for pre-season training and is believed to be using his time to talk to various clubs, with Manchester United and Chelsea also interested in his services.

However the Colombian recently revealed that he was a fan of the Gunners, stating: “I cheered for Arsenal when I was a kid – I love their style of play.

“It’s flowing and open with a lot of first touch passes. It would be suitable for a player like me.

“If I get a chance to play for a high level club like Arsenal I wouldn’t hesitate to accept it.”

I think Wenger would be mad if he fails to sign a new striker. Giroud is not good enough if Arsenal want to win the league

Here we go again with this useless Manager! Can’t and will never stand Arsene Wenger. Just don’t like his ways.

What a ridiculous statement, Arsene Wenger has been successfully at a period of time dominated by the best manager in English history i.e Alex Ferguson and has still produced an unrivalled unbeaten side for 49 games and won more FA Cups the any other manager. All whilst keeping us in the CL every season and whilst buying a new stadium. How can you not like his ways, honest, decent and successful what would you prefer.

Couldn’t agree more. Wenger is one of the all-time great managers. We’re lucky to have him.

a manager that listens to other people ,he doesnt have to take advice but he must listen . a manager who is busy signing players quickly so the team can integrate properly and bond like morinho without the big gob and sulks .

What is wrong with everyone? Of course, I would love for us to sign another striker, particularly Jackson Martinez, but we literately just BOUGHT one! Arséne has already revealed that he will use Alexis Sanchez as a STRIKER. That with Olivier Giroud may be enough, however I’m not saying I don’t want Martinez.

I seriously think that Arsene needs to make statement by signing a Top notch striker. His comments over the weekend about Arsenal not needing another striker is laughable, preposterous and strange. The only recognised striker in that is Giroud and we could see how tired ,frustrated ,clueless he was at the tail end of last season. The signing of sanchez, debuchy and ospina should be complimented by signing a world class striker.Of course, lets look at the strikers in the top 4 of last season Arsenal striking force was the weakest. So arsene.. be wise sign a stiker will you.
