Hull City are preparing a record-breaking bid to try and bring Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck to the club after Shane Long looks set to depart, Mirror reports.
The 23-year-old is currently serving as a backup to both Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney and has been told by Louis van Gaal he may not get as much first team football this season.
It is believed that Hull boss Steve Bruce will need to consider a £14million bid, something of a possibility if Long completes his £12 million switch to Southampton.
With Welbeck wanting a bigger role at Old Trafford, the Tigers’ boss is trying to use that to his advantage in order to strengthen his squad for the Europa League, something the Red Devils cannot offer in this campaign.
The England international wants to impress Roy Hodgson ahead of the Euro 2016 qualifiers in a months time, hence his reason to find regular football.
