Andrea Barzagli, who is still carrying a knock and could be left out of the squad to play England, has admitted to fearing Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney the most, Mirror reports.
Even though the United striker has been under-fire for his recent form, the Italian defender still highlights the threat that Rooney has and his ability to cause problems in attack.
“Rooney is an international player with great experience and quality,” he said. “Rooney is an outstanding forward, always dangerous.
“England have three or four important forwards. They are fast, young and strong in the one-on-one. England certainly have a strong front line and we will have to be wary of that.
“They [also] have a very tough defence, so it won’t be easy, but we tested out various things to make life difficult for them.
“It’s only normal, we have to make certain movements and avoid high balls, as England are strong in the air, so we’ll keep the ball on the ground and play to feet.
“We know England are strong in the air, so we have to be wary of corners and free-kicks. We are also aware that little details like this can make the difference in a World Cup, so we cannot get those wrong.”
