Crystal Palace have formally ruled out the possibility of talented winger Wilfried Zaha leaving the club in January as Arsenal and Tottenham prepare their moves, according to talkSPORT.

The Eagles chairman, Steve Parish, has also revealed that Palace have had more than one approach for their prized asset, but new manager Ian Holloway is desperate to keep this current squad together as they push for promotion back to the Premier League.

“We’ve had a couple [of approaches for Zaha],” Parish told talkSPORT.

“None that you would really take seriously [they were] a couple of opportunistic bids from people who might not have read the papers and known that we’re out of administration.

“You can’t blame people for doing that but we’ll be sitting down with Wilf’s representatives.

“What’s important for us is that we keep this team together, at least this season. We’ve clearly got a chance.

“We’re anxious to keep hold of him. He’s on a five-year deal. We need to keep him happy. I completely understand that. We’ll make sure he stays in January and we’ll have another look at it in the summer.

“Hopefully, if we’re in the Premier League, we can be the next stage of his development.

“Wilf’s very happy. You can see by the football he’s playing that he’s happy. He loves playing football. It’s great that he’s reached his 20th birthday it’s hard to imagine he’s still that young when he’s played so many games for us and that’s what you come through the Crystal Palace youth academy.

“Ian Holloway has already said he won’t be signing anybody that blocks a promising youngster from our first-team.

“That’s what we’ve got the academy for, to develop players for our first-team, not so that we can just sell on.”
