Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has promised a response from his team next season after struggled to defend their title.

The 25-year-old firmly believes that they are not one-season wonders and that they have the ability to put up more of a fight against rivals Manchester United next time round.

The Premier League champions are 15 points adrift of the Red Devils with the two clubs poised to meet on Monday night at Old Trafford.

The England number one is certain that there will be an extra motivation by the time the next campaign comes around and expects some new signings to help bolster the squad in the summer.

Hart said: "We are still competing in every game, we have still kept our respect and dignity, and will come again. We are not a flash in the pan.

"(If United win the league) we'll deal with that. Hopefully it won't happen, but it looks like it will. It's something to deal with, but we will just have to keep blasting until the end of the year, keep trying to win and get as many points as we can to cement second.

"I'm not really interested in giving them (United) credit, it's about what we do. But if they win the league, you have to take your hat off to them."
