England goalkeeper Jack Butland

England’s promising young goalkeeper, Jack Butland has been given a ringing endorsement by his rival and current number one, Joe Hart. The Daily Mail reports.

Hart has been impressed by the 19-year-old’s progress, as he claimed the number one spot at Birmingham City and performed well at the Olympics.

“He’s a great prospect but he just needs to play now. To play in the Olympics at 19 is a great experience for him. He’s got a massive future at the top”, Hart said.

Butland also won his first senior cap in the 2-1 victory over Italy last month and was part of Roy Hodgson’s squad at Euro 2012.

Many believe he has a great future ahead of him in the game, but he has a lot of work to do in order to oust Hart from the current number one position.

The 25-year-old is not hugely experienced at senior international level himself, with his appearance against Moldova being his 23rd cap and he made his major tournament bow at Euro 2012.

But despite another disappointing early exit, Hart cannot wait to experience the pressure-cooker atmosphere of another major championship.

Hart added: “I loved the experience at the Euros,

“The next tournament can’t come quick enough, I hope that was the first of many for me.”
