Juventus chief Gluseppe Marotta has come out to reveal that Arturo Vidal is not nearing a switch to Manchester United nor will he be leaving the Serie A this summer, Daily Star reports.
With less than two weeks until the close of the transfer window, Louis van Gaal may have to finally end his chase for the 27-year-old central midfielder after months of speculation.
Marotta told Sky Sport Italia that a switch for the Chilean international would not happen, dimming any chances of the potential high profile move to Old Trafford.
“We have no ongoing negotiations, nor have had requests the player to leave,” he said. “Vidal has always said he wanted to stay here and we are more than happy to keep him.”
Van Gaal instead is now considering moves to sign either Roma’s Kevin Strootman, Real Madrid’s Xabi Alonso, or AC Milan’s Nigel de Jong, all who can play the much needed anchorman role at the club.
