Juventus have rejected Manchester United' inquiry launched in regards to their attempt to sign midfielder Arturo Vidal, Metro reports.

It is believed that the Italian side values the Chilean star at £40 million, but has played down any hopes of Louis van Gaal moving forward over the potential deal.

Vidal is currently a top target for the Red Devils in their mission to rebuild a squad which faced a turbulent first season without Sir Alex Ferguson in charge, finishing seventh in the English Premier League.

The 27-year-old revealed earlier that he was open to a switch to Old Trafford heavily linking him with the club in previous weeks.

However, with United representatives made a concrete attempt to bring him to England, the Turin giants simply rejected any negotiations.

Van Gaal is still looking to reignite talks and is said to be preparing a £30 million offer plus long term target Nani in hopes of making Vidal's move a possibility.
