Atletico Madrid are targeting Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal to replace departing full-back Filipe Luis, Daily Mail reports.
Chelsea have been keeping a keen eye on Luis, and it is expected that the Brazilian will follow Diego Costa and Thibault Courtois to Stamford Bridge.
Ever since arriving from Malaga, Monreal has failed to impress under Arsene Wenger, alerting Atletico to a possible swoop.
Wenger has often picked English defender Kieran Gibbs over the 28-year-old left back, with his defending often under scrutiny.
The Spaniard only managed 23 appearances in the league last term, with half of them coming on as a substitute.
Meanwhile Arsenal have just lost consistent right-back Bacary Sagna to Manchester City, who left on a free transfer.
And Wenger is looking to replace the Frenchman with another La-Liga star in Joseba Zaldua.
The 21-year-old was promoted to Real Sociedad’s first team last season and impressed, interesting Wenger in signing him as Sagna’s replacement.
