Liverpool’s chase for Antonio Candreva has received a massive blow as Lazio president Claudio Lotito stated the Italian will not leave this summer, talkSPORT reports.
Candreva had an extremely impressive campaign with Lazio last season, alerting a host of top European sides looking for his services.
The 27-year-old midfielder has been targeted by Ligue-1 giants Paris Saint-Germain, Italian champions Juventus, and Liverpool.
However Candreva looks like he’ll be staying put in Rome, after Lazio’s president insisted his star man is not for sale.
“Candreva is not for sale,” Lotito told Italian Radio Due. “We have not spoken to anyone from PSG and we have not received any offers.”
The former Parma loanee scored 12 goals and assisted six last season, but couldn’t help his side finish a mediocre 9th.
And Candreva spoke of his desire to play in the Champions League after Italy’s 2-1 win over England in their World Cup opener.
“A player’s ambitions are to do good things and to play at the best clubs and to compete in the Champions League,” he said.
“I just hope to play a good World Cup, then I will be happy about what will happen.”
