Leeds United are targeting Arsenal starlet Chuks Aneke, Sky Sports reports.
The young Gunner’s contract expires at the end of the month and is set on leaving the Emirates.
Aneke is highly-rated at Arsenal and news of his imminent departure has alerted several clubs, with Leeds especially keen to bring over the 20-year-old.
Aneke was loaned out to League One side Crewe Alexandra for the past two seasons, impressing with 16 goals to help the club avoid relegation last term.
Crewe is looking to extend the midfielder’s stay at Gresty Road by signing Aneke on a permanent basis, but will be facing some stiff competition from the country’s bigger clubs.
Boss Steve Davis spoke to the youngster in regards to a possible move away from Crewe.
“I have spoken to Chuks but I think he and his agent will have a number of options to consider,” explained Davis.
“We’d like him and he knows he will continue to get his opportunities here, but he’ll be patient. He’s out of contract and will take his time to weigh up what’s on offer.”
Along with Leeds, several Championship clubs are monitoring Aneke’s situation with the bargain of a free transfer too good for many clubs to overlook.
