Leeds United overnight claimed that Brian McDermott was still their manager despite him not even being at their game yesterday, as reported by Sky Sports.
Leeds came from 1-0 down to smash Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield 5-1 at Elland Road which could mask the ultimate calamity that is going on behind the scenes at the club.
The club are on the verge of being taken over by Italian businessman Massimo Cellino who owns Serie A club Calgari.
McDermott was told by a solicitor that his contract was terminated by Cellino late last night which sparked fury amongst fans and players alike with Ross McCormach telling Sky Sports News that the only reason he stayed with the Whites was because of the manager.
Despite not being at the game yesterday, McDermott has now been told that he is still the manager of Leeds and that the Solicitor working for the company was not actually on the pay roll.
“The club would like to make it clear that Brian McDermott remains our first team manager.” A statement read.
“He has not been dismissed from his post as has been suggested and we look forward to him continuing in his role with us in taking Leeds United forward.”
