Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho

Liverpool’s big money January signing Phillippe Coutinho is continuing to take the Premier League in his stride and he is not concerned about the physical side of the game.

The Brazilian midfielder has been a hit at Anfield and has become Brendan Rodgers’ playmaker, supplying Luis Suarez with the ammunition he needs to fire Liverpool up the league.

The former Inter Milan attacking midfielder assisted twice in Liverpool’s emphatic 4-0 win away at Wigan yesterday after scoring himself on his home debut.

The £8.5million man has reiterated his happiness over moving to England and he is relishing the challenge ahead of him in Merseyside.

The 20-year-old was once again pushed and prodded around the park at the DW Stadium in yesterday’s late kick off but in partnership with Steven Gerrard, the duo are becoming a force in the centre of the pitch.

Coutinho knows he needs to improve physically to get on par with the Premier League stars:

“In Brazil, the Premier League is followed more than any other and everyone says it is the toughest competition in the world,”

“The difference I’ve noticed already is you have to be a quick thinker and move around much sooner because the pace is so much higher.

“I need to improve my muscles because they are still quite small at the moment.

“I always knew the type of football here would be much harder but, with the help of the manager, staff and players I will try to adapt as quickly as possible.

“Of course it can be a challenge but before I came here I was well aware of the style of play here.

“To me it is a challenge and I want to deal with it as quickly as possible.”
