Pepe Reina, on loan with Napoli last season, does not want to return to Liverpool, Metro reports.
The Spanish goalkeeper has revealed that he has no desire to play for the Reds next season after his memorable experience with Napoli.
Reina was very impressive during his time with the Italian side playing under former manager Rafael Benitez, in which Napoli cemented a third-place finish along with a Coppa Italia title.
The 31-year-old’s loan contract expires this summer but Reina isn’t looking forward to heading back to Anfield and playing second fiddle to Simon Mignolet.
Reina is therefore publicly expressing his desire to continue with the Partenopei, in the hopes that the Napoli hierarchy extends his stay.
“I believe that the possibility is there [to return to Napoli],”Reina told Spanish radio station Onda Cero.
“In Naples I’ve been very good this year, where I feel well-liked and where there is a plan on the table that makes you dream. I never discarded the idea of staying in Naples.
“I have a contract at Liverpool and I have to go back there, but there are also chances that [I will] go away again.”
