Arsenal and Liverpool have been put on red alert following the news that Brazilian winger Bernard is looking to leave Shakthar Donestk this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

Parties working on behalf of the Brazilian international have contacted both Premier League giants over the prospect of a summer move, whilst reports in Brazil suggest he could make a switch to Sao Paulo after the World Cup.

Liverpool and Arsenal had previously tracked Bernard whilst at Atletico Mineiro, but were beaten to his signature by the Ukrainian giants last summer.

But with the political unrest in Donestk, Bernard is one of a number of Brazilian players looking to leave the Champions League regulars.

Bernard pipped Paris St Germain star Lucas Moura to a place in Luiz Felipe Scolari’s World Cup squad, and is highly rated in his homeland.

Both clubs have been informed that they may be able to complete the deal for £19million, which would represent excellent value for the talented 21-year-old.

Brendan Rodgers has made no secret of his desire to reinforce his Liverpool squad, and Bernard fits the bill of being an exciting young player capable of playing in a number of positions.

Arsene Wenger meanwhile had identified Bernard as a top target last summer, and has the funds available to complete the transfer this time around.
